We suggest two areas for teachers to live in:

The Sabana area which is located on the West end of town
Los Yoses, located on the east end of town.

Both of these areas are relatively safe, affordable and have excellent public transportation.

You can rent a two to three bedroom apartment with a co-worker for between $350- $600.00 a month. A room may cost you about 55,000 colones or abour $100 at a family's home.

In Costa Rica, most places will require a safety deposit, equivalent to one month’s rent and by law they are not obligated to return your deposit if you leave before the year is up; even if you caused no damage to the property.
